PRIVACY

Privacy policy

The short version: this site keeps no records about you — no account, no newsletter, no comment box, no analytics and no cookies of its own. The only logs are the host's, and they do not reach us.

1What is collected

Nothing. There is no account to create, no newsletter to join, no comment section, no contact form and no payment of any kind on this site, so there is nowhere for personal data to go. No name, email address, phone number or payment detail is asked for or stored.

The search box on each page filters the list of guides inside your own browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, and no record of your searches exists.

2What it is used for

Nothing is collected, so nothing is used, stored, analysed, profiled or passed on. When you book something through an affiliate link, the details you type into that booking go to the partner you are booking with, and they use them to provide what you booked — that processing is theirs, under their privacy policy, not ours.

3Security and retention

There is no store of reader data here to protect, and nothing is retained after your visit: no account records, no addresses, no logs of your reading. Nothing collected means nothing to leak, sell or hand over. The one set of logs that exists belongs to the host, described below.

4Cookies and scripts

This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing of its own in your browser. It runs no analytics of our own, no tracking pixel of our own, no social widget and no third-party font; the two scripts it does load are named below. The pages are HTML, CSS and one small local script.

Two third-party scripts are loaded on every page. The first is Travelpayouts Drive, served by Travelpayouts (travelpayouts.com) from its own domain. It reads the page, turns ordinary mentions of hotels, flights and things to do into affiliate links, and reports clicks so a booking can be credited to this site. Because it is loaded from outside this site, Travelpayouts may set cookies or read its own identifiers in your browser; that processing is Travelpayouts', under the Travelpayouts privacy policy, not ours. We never see those cookies, those identifiers, or your individual clicks.

Would rather not run it? Block third-party scripts for this site. The guides read exactly the same; only the outbound booking links stop earning.

The second is Google AdSense, which serves the advertising. To choose an ad, cap how often it is shown and count it, Google and its advertising partners may set a cookie or read a device identifier, and may use the IP address the request arrived with to work out a rough location. That processing is Google's, under Google's privacy policy, not ours; what reaches this site is the AdSense report — impressions, clicks, estimated earnings and at best an approximate country, with no individual reader attached. Personalised advertising can be turned off in Google Ads Settings, and the guides read the same either way. An advertisement is never placed inside the text of a guide, and no ad partner is given anything about you beyond the request itself.

5Hosting, server logs and traffic figures

The pages are a static site published from a private repository, and Cloudflare Pages serves them on this site's own domain. The host receives the standard information any web request carries — IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, and the time — and may keep logs of that traffic to run and protect its service. Those logs sit with Cloudflare, covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy. They are not handed to us, and no analytics of ours run on the site, so no visitor-level figures reach its owner at all.

6Sharing with third parties

No data is sold, rented, exchanged or shared — there is none to sell. Nobody here builds profiles, and nothing is tracked across other sites by this site. No marketing email is sent, because no address is collected. Nothing is transferred between countries, because nothing is held.

The one thing that happens outside this site's control is a link you choose to click. Some outbound links are affiliate links, which is how the site is paid for; clicking one takes you to the partner's website, where the partner's policy applies. So that a booking can be credited to this site, the partner and the affiliate networks the site works with (the site is verified with Awin and places its affiliate links through Travelpayouts) may place a cookie in your browser at that moment. That cookie is theirs, not ours, and it identifies the referral and the click, not you. We never receive your name, email address, phone number, card details or booking reference, and we cannot see what you looked at or what you bought. What we can see is aggregate reporting: how many clicks and bookings a link produced over a period, and the commission earned.

If you would rather not be attributed, block or clear third-party cookies in your browser, or use private browsing for the booking. The links work either way, and the price you pay is the same.

7Your rights

Under the data-protection law that applies to this site's operator — and under the UK/EU GDPR if you are reading from there — you have rights over personal data about you: to know what is held, to correct it, and to have it erased. This site holds no personal data about its readers, so there is nothing to disclose, correct or erase on our side. Data created by a booking belongs to the partner you booked with, and requests about it should go to them.

8Children

The site is written for adults planning trips, and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

9Changes to this policy

If the site ever adds something that collects data — a newsletter, an analytics tool, a booking widget — this policy will be rewritten before that happens, and the date below will change.

10Questions

This site does not publish a contact address. This policy is the whole of what the site does with data.
